As told by Mrs. AMUKE AGNES ONGIRO, a tailor and a member of ASIANUT WOMEN GROUP, Pamba Cell, Soroti Municipality;
‘’I started this business three years ago after when my contract expired with one of the NGOS which deals with supporting war affected children with disabilities in Northern and North Eastern Uganda. My major challenge was lack of enough capital to help me purchase some of the equipment’s; but after when I registered with LANTERNS MICROFINANCE LTD through ASIANUT WOMEN GROUP; I managed to get a business Loan which enabled me to purchased my own knitting machine and a new sewing machine because the one which I started with business was already depreciated for long. Now, I have got contract with different schools for making school uniforms and school sweaters and my business is doing well; I can now earn monthly business incomes of approximately UGX 1,500,000. Out of which am able to pay school fees for my children and some war affected children with disabilities who have now become my adapted children, out of these income also am able to run my business smoothly and allow me repay my loan installments as am required by the loan committees of LANTERNS MICROFINANCE LTD.’’
